TESTIMONIALS

"Anyone thinking of going on this rally I can tell you now, you will have an excellent holiday. Two of us from the lincolnshire section went last June. Because of the dstance / time scale involved we went on modern B.M.W.s
Our route took us across France,swiss/austrian alps,Hungary, into Romania and our destination The Dracula Hotel in Turda. After chilling out for three days in Turda we started our return journey by travelling south into Bulgaria on into Greece then caught an overnight ferry to the east coast of Italy. From there we headed west across to Pisa then followed the coastline up to the south of France. From here we headed north and eventually after short trip over the channel we were back on British soil.
The trip took two and a half weeks and we rode more than five thousand two hundred miles through the most stunning scenery Europe has to offer.
Just to whet your appetite I will post some photos for any one thinking of going this year.
It must be said that the Romanian people we met and in particular the rally organizers could not have done more to make us welcome.
Oh, and Malcolm Saggers did the rally and back on his 350 Matchless special. TWO UP! And he showed all the locals how it's done in the street racing in Turda town centre.
Great rally this one, what are you waiting for

Dracula Rally--Transylvania, Romania

About 70 Brits were due to go--and most made it--including a Matchless hybrid, a 1951 R51 and acouple of old Triumph triples. Anyway, I managed about 3,300 miles in 10 days on my 640 KTM adventure--and the only adjustment was about a cupful of oil--it was 35C plus for a lot of the time!
A couple of us did about 80 miles on logging tracks whilst we were there--maps are sketchy to say the least (and of course its off the GPS mapping system (not that I have GPS--or need it for that matter). We were based in Turda--had a rock band on friday and Sat nights at the end of a Gorge---street racing in the town, drag racing on the local salt flats (well actually a dirt road had to be used as the salt was damp)--a great time, very cheap and very friendly a phot or two will be added when I downsize them--otherwise go to http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/chrisbarnes1/my_photos and check out the Romania trip folder.

Hi Alin and to all thinking about this trip. GO, it was brilliant last year. The locals made a real effort to make us welcome and provide a good rally and they didn't disappoint. They can party too!!
They even provided a photographer ................. :-)
